A 35-year-old man remains in Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition following a shooting in Mangere, Counties Manukau this morning.
The incident happened at around 3am at an address in Yates Road.
A scene examination is underway and Police will be at the address for some time while this is carried out.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin McNaughton says Police are currently following a number of positive leads but ask anyone with information to come forward.
“I want to reassure the Mangere community that we are doing everything possible to identify the person or persons responsible for this crime. We have a number of detectives working on this investigation but need anyone who can help Police to please get in touch.”
