The name of a man killed in a collision between two motorcycles near Hamilton's Temple View on Friday has been released.
Acting Waikato Road Policing Manager, Inspector Dana McDonald, said the man had been identified as 34-year-old Hamilton man, Wayde Anthony THOMAS.
"Mr THOMAS died in an incident, that was not witnessed by any other party, that is currently under investigation by the Serious Crash Unit. Initial indications are that he suffered fatal injuries in a collision between two motorcycles.
"The rider of the second motorcycle suffered serious to critical injuries in the crash and is currently being treated in Waikato Hospital. It is too early to say what, if any, part speed or alcohol may have played in the crash but we can confirm neither rider was wearing a crash helmet or other safety gear when the crash occurred."
Mr McDonald said of the four road fatalities on Waikato roads so far this year, three had involved people dying on the road while riding two or four-wheeled motorbikes and he implored riders to do everything they could to ride safe and be safe on the road.
"The roads are a social environment requiring all road users to respect the risks. Police ask all road users to do what they can to keep themselves and others safe."
