Police Serious Crash Investigators are still at the scene of a serious crash that occurred near the intersection of Bluff Highway (State Highway 1) and Omaui Road at about 1.00 am this morning.
Police can confirm that a woman was struck by a vehicle and died as a result.
Police believe they know the identity of the deceased woman but her name won’t be released until next of kin are informed.
It is anticipated that the road blocks in place will be removed soon. Police will advise when this happens and regret any inconvenience caused to road users in the area at the time.
Enquiries are continuing into the cause of the crash.
