Police contact survey – How did we do?

Police is seeking feedback from members of the public who have recently contacted us for a non-emergency reason. 

People who phone their local police station, call 105 or other non-emergency line, or make an online report may be invited to take part in a brief, confidential survey on their experience. This feedback will help ensure Police delivers the services all New Zealanders expect and deserve. It is similar to the type of surveys you may receive after contacting other organisations via their customer service channels.

How will we contact you?

An invitation to take part in the survey will be sent to the email address you provided when you contacted us, with a link to the survey. The link is valid for five days from when it’s sent. People making an online report on 105 will also be invited to do the survey after submitting their report.

What is involved in doing the survey?

The survey is quick and easy to do, and can be completed via a PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet. It’s voluntary and will only take a few minutes. You’ll need access to the internet and normal data charges will apply.

The survey will ask some simple questions about the service you’ve received from us, and will relate to the way you contacted us.

How will I be contacted?

If you provided Police with an email address and/or mobile phone number, then we will contact you via your preferred method:

  • If it’s an email, it will come from noreply@surveys.police.govt.nz
  • If it’s a text message, it will come from 8105

What will we do with your feedback?

Your feedback will help us understand what we’re doing well and where we can do better. We’ll use it to improve our processes and procedures, and develop new products or tools where necessary.

In some situations, the survey team may get in touch with you if:

  • we think we may be able to fix or improve an issue for you quickly
  • we want to better understand your experience
  • we’re worried you or someone else is being harmed or at risk of harm

How will we keep your information safe?

The information you provide is strictly confidential, and only authorised people can access it. We have systems and safeguards in place to control how we collect, manage and use your feedback.

What do I do if I don’t want to get these surveys?

If you would prefer not to receive these surveys from us in the future, you can opt out by:

  • selecting the 'opt-out' button, if you get an email
  • reply 'STOP', if you get a text
