Porirua Police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred mid morning on Saturday.  Detective Sergeant Christiaan Barnard said, “A male wearing a balaclava has walked into the Foodmart on Fantame Street, and threatened the owner with a large knife. 

“He demanded cash, which prompted the victim ran to back of the store out of fear.  The offender has run from the store heading north on Fantame Street on foot. 

"He was waring a distinctive hoody what was black in the torso with red and black sleeves, camouflage pants, and a black balaclava with holes for the eyes, nose and mouth." 

Police are seeking sightings of this male in the Waitangirua area around 10:30am on Saturday.
