Police appeal for witnesses to alleged incident in New Brighton

Canterbury Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident on Bower Ave, New Brighton, at approximately 3.45pm yesterday (25 March 2015). It is alleged that a man approached and attempted to persuade a 9 year old boy to get into his car. After a short altercation which left the young boy with a scratch on his leg the young boy fled the scene on his scooter and rode home.

Canterbury Police and victim support are working with the boy and his family.

The man is described as approximately 28 years old, Caucasian with a brown beard wearing a black polo shirt, green trousers and black Nike shoes. The car is understood to be a new shape 4-door sky blue Suzuki, possible a Swift.

Canterbury police investigations are continuing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw a sky blue Suzuki vehicle in the area near Bowers Road in New Brighton between 3.30pm-4pm to call Police on 03 363 7400.
