A second man has been arrested in relation to a stabbing on Ohauiti Road, Tauranga in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 37-year-old man from Mount Maunganui appeared at Tauranga District Court this morning charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. On 16 December he will reappear in court alongside a 36-year-old Mount Maunganui man who was charged earlier this week in relation to the same incident.

Both men currently have name suppression.

Meanwhile police are continuing to investigate the death of 19-year-old Takena Tiepa-Ranapia whose body was located in nearby Mansfield Road at approximately 9am on Sunday morning. No one has been arrested in connection with this death, and police still want to hear from anyone with information; particularly sightings of a maroon four-door Ford Laser sedan in the Tauranga and Mount Maunganui areas between midnight and 1am.

Anyone with information that might assist this investigation is asked to contact Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
