Motorists are advised to avoid State Highway 5, just south of the State Highway 38 intersection in Waiotapu following a crash.
The two-vehicle crash was reported just before 2:30pm.
One person is currently in a critical condition.
The road is currently closed northbound, motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
