Paremata Gas leak contained

1 min read

A gas leak causing disruptions near Paremata has now been contained and only one traffic diversion remains in place.

Inspector John Spence, Kapiti Mana Police Area Commander, says the emergency is now over and roads are being re-opened.

The only road still closed is the entrance to SH58 off the SH1 Paremata roundabout. Northbound motorists wanting to turnoff onto SH58 at Paremata need to use the alternative route through Whitford Brown Avenue.

Inspector Spence says Paremata Primary School pupils evacuated to the Royal New Zealand Police College as a safety precaution are expected to return to school shortly.

"They'll have their morning tea at the College and then head back to the classrooms," he says.
