Police Christian Support Network being established

1 min read

A Police Christian Support Network is being established for the purpose of supporting and encouraging Christian staff employed by New Zealand Police.

The network is the initiative of Christian Police staff from various parts of the country. Unlike Christian fellowship groups in policing jurisdictions in other countries that are totally independent of their policing organisation, the Police Christian Support Network has been given official status through the Police Christian Support Network Policy which was issued by the Office of the Commissioner in September 2005.

The network aims to establish a means of connecting Christian staff, supporting staff who wish to participate in Network activities to maintain and nurture their faith and assisting staff to work through faith-based issues that might arise in the workplace.

What happens within the network will not be nationally prescribed. It is a staff-directed initiative that will be locally needs driven, with occasional activities connecting staff nationally.

A national coordination group is currently establishing key contact people within the Police Districts and Service Centres.
