1 min read

Organisers of the North Shore Policing Centre Open Day on Sunday, say the public is getting a rare chance this weekend, to see an array of modern resources and sophisticated technology now available to police on the North Shore.

Event Organiser, Senior Sergeant Bruce Wood, North Shore's Community Police Manager, says it has been many years since local police held a similar sized display, and a large public attendance is expected.

"Sunday's Open Day will provide some great photo opportunities for everyone. There'll be Police dogs, their handlers, and maybe some puppy recruits," Mr Wood said.

"A variety of modern technology used to combat crime will all be on display. The Booze Bus and the Eagle helicopter will both be on site for public inspection, and Police Search and Rescue specialists will be demonstrating their skills when they abseil off the new building."

The Armed Offenders Squad, Youth Education, Youth Aid, Police Recruitment, will be in attendance as will New Zealand Fire Service personnel, and St John Ambulance staff."

"Anyone seeking information on Victim Support, Neighbourhood Support, or Women's Refuge, will be able to visit their on site displays, and talk to the representatives of these special groups."

"Staff are very proud of their new policing facility and Sunday's Open Day will enable the general public to see how the policing needs of North Shore Community are being achieved, and why everyone can be proud of their New Zealand Police," said Senior Sergeant Wood.

Sunday's Police Open Day commences at 10.00am and continues until 2.00pm.

The North Shore Policing Centre is located at 52 Parkway Drive, Mairangi Bay.

Parking access will be readily available in the Park n Ride, off Constellation Drive.
