A man is missing after an accident at the Maruia Falls, near Murchison about 5.30pm today.
The 39 year-old Christchurch man was with a group of rugby fans travelling to Nelson when the accident happened.
A witness said the man fell over the waterfall before disappearing.
Police dogs, kayaks and a helicopter searched the area before nightfall without finding the man. The search will resume at first light when the police dive squad has will be deployed.
