1 min read

Three young people are appearing in the Porirua Youth Court this afternoon jointly charged with the aggravated robbery of a Pizza delivery worker in Cannons Creek on Saturday night.

Search warrants were executed in the Titahi Bay area today and as a result two 16 year olds - a male and a female - and a 19-year-old male are jointly charged with the robbery.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam, Porirua CIB, said good information from the public combined with investigative work by detectives led to the arrests.

Police are still making inquiries into the burning of the 34-year-old victim's car which was found near the boatsheds at the southern end of Titahi Bay beach around 2.25am on Sunday morning, 31 August.

"We're appealing for sightings of the car from the time the victim was robbed in Bedford Street shortly before 11pm on Saturday until the time the car was burnt out in Titahi Bay three hours later," Detective Senior Sergeant Oxnam said.

The car was a green 1994 Nissan Sentra 5-door hatch, registration UI 3120.

If you saw this car on Saturday night and have any information which can help police investigators, then please contact Porirua Police on telephone 04 238 1401.

Police say the victim, who was working part time as a pizza delivery man while he funded his way through a Whitireia Polytechnic degree, is recovering well from his injuries. He is touched by the generosity of several members of the public who have offered him the loan of a vehicle.
