10 January 2015

At about 7.50pm on Friday 9 January 2015, Palmerston North Police were advised that several molotov cocktails had been thrown at a house in Egmont Street in the suburb of Westbrook.

Police and Fire Service attended the scene and it appears that the incident was a result of a dispute between neighbours.  Police arrested two males at a near by address.  There was minor damage to one house from the molotov cocktails.

A 44 year old local man appeared in the Palmerston North District Court today, Saturday, 10 January 2015 on a charge of Arson and a 52 year old local man is assisting Police with their enquiries.

No one else is being sought in respect of this incident.

Police can reassure the community that this is an isolated incident.

We will continue to speak to witnesses over the weekend to establish the full details of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Shelley Ross on 06 213 9644.

Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
