Escaped Prisoner - Wanganui

At about 8.00pm on Thursday 11th December 2014, Police were advised that a Department of Corrections prisoner had escaped from Wanganui Hospital.

The male, who was under guard at the time, fled from a Ward at the hospital where he had been a patient for the last 10 days.

Police used a dog in an attempt to track the prisoner and continue to search for his whereabouts.

The prisoner is Kenneth John Burns, a male Maori aged 34 years.  He is 173cms tall and medium-soild build.  He was last seen wearing a greenish coloured top and grey pants.  He was not wearing shoes.

Burns has been in Corrections custody on Dishonesty offences and should not be approached by the public.
