1 min read

Canterbury Police are able to name the victim of yesterday’s (23 June 2015) fatal crash that occurred shortly after 7.30am at McQueens Bridge.  She was 28 year old Charlotte Christina Armstrong who lived in Little River.

The death has been referred to the Coroner.  Canterbury Police are working with Charlotte’s family and the services of Victim Support have been offered to them.

Sergeant Paul Piper said “Charlotte’s family have lost someone very special to them in tragic circumstances.  Yesterday black ice was a hazard on a lot of the District’s roads.  Unfortunately it appears that Charlotte’s vehicle has spun into the path of a school bus as she crossed McQueens Bridge.  The Police investigation into the cause of the crash will include assessing the effect of a large patch of black ice in the immediate area.”

The driver and sole occupant of the school bus has since been discharged from Christchurch Hospital.
