Police can now release the names of the two men who died in an avalanche near Aoraki/Mt Cook yesterday, October 31.
They were Wolfgang Maier, 58, and Martin Klaus Hess, 50.
Both were German nationals living in New Zealand.
Police extend our sympathies to their family and friends.
Both deaths have been referred to the Coroner.
