Tasman Police pleased with recent drink-drive operation

1 min read

Tasman Police is pleased by the results of a recent traffic operation.

Senior Sergeant Grant Andrews and his team breathalysed 622 drivers on Rocks Road, Nelson yesterday evening. One driver returned a positive breath test.

The joint operation involved Police and Nelson City Council with a focus on keeping motorists safe this holiday season.

“We were joined by staff from the Nelson City Council Transport,” says Senior Sergeant Andrews.

As part of the operation management and staff from the City Council handed out giveaways such as cookies to drivers.

Police’s message to motorists is clear: Don’t drive distracted, stay within your own lane, buckle up, watch your speed, and never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

“Remember,” Says Senior Sergeant Andrews, “If you’re going out and drinking this summer look after yourself and you mates, and have a plan to get home safely.

“If you’re driving, you can expect to be stopped and breath tested.”

“And, if you are stopped and spoken to by one of our staff, please remember it’s because we want you and everyone else to be safe and feel safe this summer.”
