Safe and ethical use of algorithm report and related documents
Police commissioned specialist consultants Taylor Fry to conduct a stocktake of algorithms in use or development by New Zealand Police, and to provide advice on best practice to assure safe and ethical development and use of algorithms moving forward. The report was reviewed by the independent expert panel on emergent technologies set up by Police.
This report reviews proposals that have been assessed against the Policy by considering their lifecycle and feedback from Technology Assurance’s internal stakeholders. The review included a qualitative assessment of the feedback from 20 technology proposals considered during the period 2021-2023, which allowed us to identify key policy and process improvements.
