Three more arrests in Auckland kidnapping case

1 min read

Three people will appear in the Waitakere District Court this morning in relation to the kidnapping of a male Asian student last week.

Detectives from Waitakere CIB executed a number of search warrants last night and three arrests were made. The two males and one female are each charged with kidnapping.

Police believe the victim was held at an address on the North Shore, possibly in the Birkenhead area. Detective Sergeant Megan Goldie says, "Police would like to hear from any landlords who rent a property to male Asians and visited the house last week."

While being held at the address, the victim remembers hearing the voice of a female Asian at the door. The woman, who is believed to be the landlord, wanted to check the room where he was being held; saying repairs were organised for Wednesday. She was told someone was in the room asleep.

The victim believes the woman was from South China. Anyone who rents a property to Asians in the North Shore area and visited the house last week should contact Waitakere Police.
