Arrest after robbery and assault at petrol station

A 36-year-old has been arrested and charged after a man’s car was stolen and two people were assaulted at a Hamilton petrol station. 
 
The car was taken when its owner got out to fill up with fuel at the service station on Norton Road at 5.50pm Saturday 23 December. 
 
Earlier in the day, at 1.40pm, two people were assaulted while filling up with petrol at the same station. 
 
The 36-year-old man has been charged with assault with intent to injure, aggravated robbery and assault with a blunt instrument. 
 
He is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on 26 December.
