Police appeal for information following investigation into unexplained death

Police are continuing the investigation into the unexplained death of an Auckland man in Weymouth.

A formal identification and a post mortem have now been completed.

Police can now name the man as Douglas Pyke, 66, of Weymouth.

At this stage, the last known sighting of Douglas was around 11.30am on Sunday 16 December at The Clendon Inn.

Police were called to an address on Myna Place after 1pm on Wednesday where he was found deceased.

“We would like anyone who has seen or spoken to Douglas between Sunday and Wednesday to contact Police on (09) 261 1300 ,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Darrell Harpur.

The death has been referred to the Coroner.
