Police have released the name of a 48 year old female who died after the car she was driving was involved in a head-on collision, north of Kumeu on Saturday night.

Police say that at about 7.45pm on Saturday 16 September 2006 they attended at a fatal car crash on State Highway 16 near Huapai, two kilometres northwest of Kumeu.
On arrival they found two vehicles, a south bound Subaru and a northbound Hyundai had collided head-on. The female deceased who was the driver of the Hyundai died at the scene. The Subaru's male driver is in Auckland Hospital with moderate injuries.
There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
Police say that alcohol and speed are not factors in this fatality.
Police investigations into why the southbound Subaru was on the incorrect side of the road when it collided head-on with the northbound Hyundai are continuing.
