Body found in gully

A volunteer search and rescue team looking for missing Pahiatua man John Campbell have located the body of a man in a gully near Woodville.

The discovery was made shortly before 2pm in a gully stream cutting through a pine plantation near Hope Road, Woodville. The location is approximately 1km from where the 64-year-old's vehicle was found abandoned.

Identity is yet to be confirmed, but it is believed to be Mr Campbell and his family have been informed.

Cause of death is unclear and this will be established through a post mortem. At this stage there is nothing to suggest that the death is suspicious.
