1 min read

Wellington Police have charged the 23-year-old male who was stabbed at a Rodrigo Road address on Tuesday night with aggravated burglary and assault with a weapon.

At a bed-side Court hearing today, he was remanded in custody and will reappear in the Wellington District Court on 14 June.

Inquiries are continuing to confirm the identity of the second male who approached the property. The weapon used in the scuffle has been recovered by Police and is being analysed by forensic scientists.

A decision about charges against the occupant that stabbed the 23-year-old male is yet to be made.

Police are still appealing for any sightings of a vehicle approaching the property in Rodrigo Street between 6.00 and 7.00pm on Tuesday night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard says "Some of the occupants of the property and the offender are known to each other. Police are confident that this was an isolated incident".
