Busy morn in Christchurch

1 min read

The watch house is overflowing and the courts are busy this morning in Christchurch.

Christchurch police are actively pursuing outstanding active Warrants to Arrest and placing them before the court today.

As at 11.30am, 40 had been apprehended and processed with many voluntarily appearing at court.

Staff are working on the most recent and working backwards but many warrants are old and may not be processed.

Staff involved include many who are not usually active on the front line including the District Commander Dave Cliff. The Operation began this morning with nearly 100 officers and support staff at the 6am briefing.

Some of this morning's stories;

►When Police knocked on the door looking for Mr X his missus told them he'd gone out the back door when he heard the knock, but they looked around the house anyway and discovered him under a bed.

►When police have gone to an address with a warrant for a particular person they have not been there but two others wanted were.

►One police car returned with three offenders who were each picked up at separate addresses and patiently waited in the car while the next address was visited.

►One partner pointed out the 'wanted' person.
