At 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, New Zealand moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4.

This means New Zealanders not working in essential services must stay at home and stop all interactions with others outside of their household.

During this time Police will continue to provide essential policing services.

Name release – Bushey crash

Police in Oamaru can now confirm the name of the person who died following a crash in Bushey in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 20 March.

He was 49-year-old Mohamed Elmi of Christchurch.

The single-car crash occurred on Hamden-Palmerston Road.

Police would like to extend their sympathies to Mr Elmi’s family at this tragic time.
