Operation Urban - Takanini

1 min read

At approximately 1:09pm this afternoon police were called to an address in Great South Road Takanini after panic alarm activation.

Police arrived at the scene shortly afterward and located 2 people within the premises both deceased.  Due to the nature of their injuries a homicide investigation is now underway.  The scene has been secured and Great South Road between Taka St & Glenora Road will remain closed until further noticed whilst a scene examination takes place.

“We are in the very early stages of the investigation and currently have very limited knowledge of what occurred at the scene.” says Detective Inspector Dave Lynch of Counties Manukau Police.

Police are particularly interested in talking to a male and a female seen leaving the premises shortly prior to Police arrival. Police need to identify and speak to these two people to ascertain whether they have any information relating to the incident.  It would be in their best interests to contact Police as soon as possible.

Police have not yet positively identified the victims but believe we know who they are.  There will be no further comment regarding the identity of the victims until next of kin have been located and identified.

If anyone has information relating to the case please call Counties Manukau Police on 09 261 1300.  Alternatively information can be given anonymously to the the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Media note:  Detective Inspector Dave Lynch will be available for a brief media stand up at 5:30pm at Counties Manukau Police Station – 42 Manukau Station Road, Manukau.
