Person killed in glider crash near Kaikohe

Emergency services were notified at around 5.30pm that a glider was missing after leaving the Kaikohe Airfield earlier this afternoon.  
 
The glider was located a short time ago. Sadly the sole occupant of the glider was found to be deceased. 
 
Work is still under way to piece together exactly what has happened and no further information is available at this stage.
