65 tonne of fertiliser products stolen

1 min read

Police in Marton are investigating a theft at a leading fertiliser manufacturer and distributor estimated at $38,000.
,
Ballance Agri-Nutrients were subject of a burglary overnight Tuesday, 29 September, more than likely during the early hours of Wednesday.

A stock take has revealed that 65 tonne of super phosphate based products have been taken, which would have required at least two large trucks. There were other products at the premises that went untouched so the thieves appear to have known what they were after.

The business is fairly remote with the nearest house 150m away and it is not uncommon for trucks go the premises at night so people living in the area who heard or saw the trucks that night may not have considered it suspicious.

The premises are about 10km north of Bulls off State Highway 1, and the highway would be the only route for the trucks to go.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything on Tuesday night or early Wednesday that might be relevant to their investigation. They also want to hear about anyone selling off this type of product privately or cheaply.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Marton Police Station on 06 327 6555.
