Police No Longer Treating Incident As Homicide

1 min read

Inquiries continue today to positively identify the man's body found yesterday at the Scott Memorial in Blueskin Road, Port Chalmers.

Public support in respect of sightings of the grey vehicle parked at the lookout has been excellent, and police are grateful for the information provided.

Police have confidence that they are aware of the identity of the deceased. A formal identification is likely to take place later today.

A scene examination with the assistance of the Christchurch-based pathologist and ESR staff will hopefully confirm police's view that no other person was involved in the man's death. Later today police will refer the matter to the Dunedin coroner, Mr David Crerar.

Police are no longer treating the incident as a homicide.
