Hot Water Beach Road in Whenuakite, Thames-Coromandel District, is closed following a serious crash this afternoon.
Police were called to the two-vehicle crash on the Whenuakite River Bridge around 2.20pm.
The crash involved a truck and a car, and there are serious injuries.
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised, and the road is expected to be closed for at least six hours.
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes and expect delays.
