Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash involving a car and freight train near Invercargill. 

Great South Road is closed following a crash in Drury this afternoon. 

The crash, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, was reported to Police at around 12.55pm.

Christchurch's Southern Motorway is now open following an earlier crash. 

Police thank motorists for their patience.
