Police seek witnesses to a "hit and run" incident

1 min read

A young woman has been recently released from hospital with head and facial injuries after an altercation between two groups.

Police are seeking witnesses to a series of incidences that occurred around midnight on Friday/Saturday 5/6 December 2008.

These involved the occupants of a brown Datsun Coupe and a dark metallic blue WRX Subaru.

The WRX followed the Datsun along Deans Avenue through the centre of Christchurch via Lichfield Street to the intersection of Worcester Street and Linwood Avenue.

Several objects were thrown by the occupants of the WRX at the Datsun.

At about 12.30 am, a female passenger of the Datsun left the car and was run down by the WRX which immediately left the scene.

The female victim suffered head and facial injuries and she has since been released from Christchurch Public Hspital.

Detective Constable Richard MALIN of the Christchurch CIB says, "We need to identify the Suburu and its occupants."

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw these vehicles driving erratically at this time through the city centre, or prior to these incidents earlier on Friday evening.

The WRX is described as a sedan shape with mag wheels and a large front intercooler. It is missing a front head light and a rear tail light. It has a full-body kit that includes a front lip, side skirts, a rear body skirt and full L.E.D lights front and rear.

Police urge anyone who recognises this description of the WRX to contact them.

Anyone with information that may assist the Police is asked to contact Detective Constable Richard MALIN at the Christchurch Central Police Station on (03) 363 7672.
