Lock out over Easter

1 min read

Christchurch Police in conjunction with the Christchurch City Council and bar owners will again run a ’lock out′ from premises on Good Friday.

The policy is very simple says Senior Sergeant Peter Cooper. ″If you leave a bar after 1am you won′t be allowed back in or into another bar. However all bars will close at 3am on Good Friday.″

Christchurch Police previously ran a successful one door policy at New Year. People quickly dispersed and went home police said, which reduced the amount of violence on the streets.

Unity, an event covering 12 venues, will be exempt from the one-way door policy as it is considered a private event due to ticket sales.
