1 min read

Undercover programme issues raised in the media last night will be investigated by a senior barrister who will advise the Commissioner of Police.

Police Commissioner Rob Robinson said that the allegations made are serious and warranted investigation.

The Commissioner said he was in the process of engaging a senior barrister to assess the most recent allegations and advise on what further inquiries might be indicated.

"It is my intention that the senior barrister would then ensure that the allegations are fully addressed.

"The independence of this advice and oversight is necessary to assure the public of the integrity of the investigation process," said Mr Robinson.

Litigation involving some former police officers is ongoing and Police are keen to see it advance to a conclusion.
