Patient tries Police patience

1 min read

Auckland City Police are working closely with Auckland Hospital management and staff to locate a man who has secreted himself in the hospital ceiling.

Police Specialist Search Group and a Police Negotiator are at the hospital where they are trying to locate the man and facilitate his safe removal from the ceiling. The Fire Service is also on its way and is equipped with thermal imaging devices to assist the search.

Police were at the hospital shortly after 8.30 this morning to speak to the man who has outstanding arrest warrants. He was due to be discharged when he chose to evade officers by climbing into the ceiling when ostensibly going for a shower.

The 25 year-old Caucasian is not considered dangerous. At the time he disappeared he was wearing a hospital gown which Police at the hospital believe they have recovered.
