Police Urge Young Women to Exercise Caution

1 min read

Waitakere CIB are investigating an incident in which a young female was sexually assaulted last weekend, and they are urging all young women to exercise extreme caution when walking alone in Henderson Park off Henderson Valley Road.

Detective Constable Nick Salter says the incident happened at about 4.00pm on Sunday 28 October 2007, when a young female was walking alone along one of the bush paths in the popular reserve.

"A male offender has attacked the victim and indecently assaulted her," he said.

"The victim has been able to hit her attacker and has then run for help."

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the distressed female at about the time of the attack. She was wearing a pink dress and was running from the Henderson Park locality and along Great North Road.

Police have released a brief description of the attacker. He's described as being a part Maori or Pacific Island national, about 6 feet tall, and of solid build.

Anyone who has seen a man of similar description in or near Henderson Park prior to or about the time of this attack is asked to contact Waitakere CIB as soon as possible.
