Police investigating the abduction of baby Kahu Durie spoke with more than 1000 people yesterday during a central Lower Hutt public information gathering exercise.
Detective Inspector Stuart Wildon said police are appealing for more information on sightings of the two tone blue and silver Mitsubishi car used by Kahu’s abductor, the whereabouts of the abductor and baby Kahu herself.
"We had more than 100 staff out yesterday talking to people in the Central Lower Hutt shopping area and from a police bus set up in St Albans’s Grove where Kahu was abducted a week ago last Saturday," he said. "We’re working through that information today in terms of what it will tell us about possible vehicle sightings or other suspicious behaviour.
"Finding the car will help us find Kahu. Her safe return home continues to be our primary goal," he said. "Any information that people have about the car or the offender, no matter how trivial, please let us know.
At the time of the abduction the car had a stolen licence plate registration UL3802. Police can’t discount the possibility that the car has left the Hutt Valley – Wellington area, has been dumped or abandoned.

"I appeal to whoever has her or knows where she is, to please, help us get Kahu back to who family who love and miss her."
