Police have arrested a 17-year-old man in relation to the burglary of Stirling Sports in Waipapa.

About 5am on Tuesday October 20 a vehicle has driven into the side of the store and the occupants have gone into the store and stolen a number of items.

Following inquiries the police arrested the teenage offender yesterday morning. He appeared in the Kaikohe District Court today charged with burglary and has been remanded in custody to appear again on Monday November 2.

Inspector Al Symonds says inquiries are ongoing to locate the other offenders and more arrests are expected.
“The hard work of the Far North CIB staff led to yesterday’s arrest, which was pleasing for the victim whose store received extensive damage, police and the wider community.”

Mr Symonds says police are following strong lines of inquiry and are also appealing to the public to assist.
“We would like to hear from anyone who has seen or is aware of people selling cheap caps and sports gear or who has any information about the burglary.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Far North CIB at Kerikeri Station on 09 407 9211 or if they wish to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
