Manawatü Police are seeking information relating to sightings of a vehicle of interest in Operation Ormond — the James Whatuira homicide investigation.

The vehicle is described as a 2005, silver Ford Falcon XR6 Saloon, registration CRL12.

Police located the vehicle at the Woodville property but due to investigative reasons, Police is not prepared to discuss who the vehicle belongs to.

Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Harrison says: "This is a vehicle of interest to our investigation and was located at the Ormond Street property when officers attended on Sunday 4 January, 2015."

"It is believed that Mr Whatuira travelled to the property in this vehicle sometime on the Sunday.

"Piecing together this vehicle's movements is a crucial part of our investigation and we appeal to anyone that saw the vehicle in the Pahiatua and Woodville areas between 7am and 3pm on the Sunday to contact Police.

"The sightings will also help establish if anyone else was in the vehicle at the time."

The vehicle is currently undergoing forensic examination, and the scene examination at the property is progressing and is expected to be completed by Friday (9 January, 2015) afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Claire Adkins on (06) 210 2201. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
