Person dies after car goes into water at Kairaki Beach, Canterbury

Police were notified at around 9.45pm last night that a car had been seen going into the water at Kairaki Beach.
 
The car was fully submerged when emergency services arrived and and sadly the driver of the car was found deceased a short time later.
 
The driver's body was recovered by Police last night and work is under way this morning to notify next of kin.  
 
No further details regarding the driver can be released until next of kin notification is completed.
