Police investigating aggravated burglary in Papamoa

Police responded to an aggravated burglary at a home on Waterford Park Drive, Papamoa at around 4:30am today. 

Two male offenders entered the property, one armed with an axe and the other with a crowbar, and assaulted a male and female occupant. They received minor injuries but did not require ambulance treatment.

The offenders then stole two cars from the property and left in them. These vehicles have since been recovered nearby and are being examined.

CIB are investigating this incident. A scene examination is underway at the property and enquiries are being made to locate the two male offenders.

Police are ensuring the man and woman who were at home at the time of the incident are supported.
