Police seek information on serious assault

Eastern Bay of Plenty Police are investigating a serious assault on Awatapu Drive, Whakatane, around midnight on Christmas Day. 

A 16-year-old male received moderate stab wounds to his upper body and leg and was taken to Whakatane Hospital.

“We are very grateful to the local community who have provided valuable information that has allowed us to progress this investigation in a positive manner,” says Detective Sergeant Darren Thomas of Eastern Bay of Plenty Police.

Police are appealing for further information from anyone who saw or heard anything in relation to this incident.
