Police are in attendance at a serious crash on State Highway 1 south of Waiomio in Northland.
The crash involves a car and a van.
There are reports of serious injuries, however we are unable to confirm the nature of the injuries at this stage.
Southbound traffic is currently being diverted at the intersection of State Highway 1 and State Highway 11 at Kawakawa.
Motorists are advised Mangakahia Road is not suitable for heavy vehicles.
There is also a diversion further south at Ruapekapeka Road, however this is for light vehicles only.
The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
