Stolen car crash, Taupiri.

Waikato District Police are currently investigating a crash involving a stolen motor vehicle on Great South Road, Taupiri at 6:25am today. Police units had previously been in pursuit of the vehicle, but had abandoned the pursuit due to high speeds. Post pursuit the stolen vehicle slowed considerably and appeared to be having engine problems. Police have deployed tyre deflation devices, the stolen motor vehicle unsucessfully attempted to avoid the tyre deflation device and crashed. Occupants of the vehicle suffered medium-serious injuries and are being treated at Waikato Hospital. The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated.
