Is my DNA from my saliva stored in a Police database?

Police do not collect or store any DNA data from drug testing. Saliva is tested only to determine the level of drugs present and does not convert saliva into a DNA profile.

All drug screening test devices used at the roadside (whether positive or negative) are disposed of as secure biohazard waste. Screening devices are not held or stored by Police once used.

All saliva samples, including the elective saliva sample for private analysis, are sent to PHF Science. Saliva samples are held by PHF Science for the purpose of drug detection and are disposed of as secure biohazard waste as per the Land Transport (Oral Fluid Samples) Regulations 2025.
