Will those using prescription cannabis be caught up in testing?

A medicinal cannabis product that has high THC could be as impairing as recreationally used cannabis. If a product has high THC, then it is likely that the person will not be able to drive for some hours after use.

Testing thresholds for THC have been set to indicate recent use. Drugs detected at or above these thresholds are at a level that is considered unsafe to drive.

A person taking prescription medicine should follow the advice of their health practitioner. Anyone experiencing impairing effects should not drive.

If you have a valid and current prescription for medicinal cannabis, and you have taken it as prescribed you may apply for a medical defence.
