Sightings sought for white car

1 min read

Police investigating the disappearance of six-year-old Coral Burrows are appealing for sightings of a white station wagon.

Detective Inspector Rod Drew, head of Operation Reef, says members of the public have told police an old white Lada or Fiat station wagon seen on Wednesday morning parked at a roadside layby near the Double Bridges at the base of the Rimutaka Ranges. This was the day after Coral disappeared.&#34

Mr Drew said a couple travelling to Wellington mid morning on Wednesday saw the car parked at the roadside. It was raining heavily and the car suddenly spun out from the roadside and headed back towards Featherston.

&#34This could be important as Coral’s backpack was found on Wednesday in Abbot’s Creek which feeds downstream from the bridges into Lake Wairarapa.&#34

Police are also asking for sightings of a white Lada or Fiat station wagon in the vicinity of the Double Bridges area, South Featherston Road or the wider South Wairarapa on Tuesday or Wednesday.
