Teenager found dead

1 min read

The body of a 13 year-old boy, reported missing at 11 o’clock last night, has been removed from an industrial site in Mt Roskill and will undergo a post-mortem examination this afternoon.

Molid Sheikh Mohamed was found dead on the Stoddard Rd site just before 7am by a man on his way to work. Police cordoned off the scene and have been examining it for clues all morning.

A pathologist was also present at the scene and Detective Senior Sergeant John Tims of Avondale Police says it’s too early to say whether Molid’s death is suspicious.

"I expect we’ll have a clearer idea of how this young boy died once the post-mortem is completed," Mr Tims said.

"In the meantime, if anyone has any information about unusual behaviour or noise in the vicinity of the Lotus Display Stands factory in Stoddard Rd, they should contact Avondale CIB."

The last reported sighting Police are aware of of Molid Mohamed was at 10pm last night, outside a nearby mosque. His family reported him missing to Police an hour later. Patrols were alerted of the report but there were no sightings of him until his body was discovered this morning.

Molid Mohamed lived in Mt Roskill and was a student at a local intermediate school.
